Andrea Turner, Principal
Mrs. Turner graduated from the University of Virginia with a Bachelors of Science in Physical Education and from George Mason University with a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and Administration. Mrs. Turner is an experienced educator in the Arlington Public School system. Mrs. Turner began her career in 1986 at Jamestown Elementary teaching physical education for four years before moving to Virginia Beach to work as a civilian Recreation Director for the Navy. After returning to Arlington in 1991, Mrs. Turner taught physical education at Drew Model Elementary School and in 2000 became the assistant principal at Drew. In 1997, Mrs. Turner was selected as Arlington County’s Teacher of the Year. Mrs. Turner served as the assistant principal for both Drew and Henry for the 2005-2006 school year. In addition to being Henry’s assistant principal in 2006-2007, Mrs. Turner worked as Swanson Middle School’s testing coordinator. In 2007-2008, Mrs. Turner taught physical education at Campbell Elementary School while also serving as Henry’s assistant principal. From 2009 until 2011, Mrs. Turner was at Henry full-time as the assistant principal and school testing coordinator. Mrs. Turner was honored as a state finalist for the 2014 National Outstanding Assistant Principal Award. Mrs. Turner served as Henry’s full-time assistant principal for three years before being appointed as the Principal of Henry in July, 2014. Mrs. Turner and her husband enjoy vacationing, exercising and walking together and attending sporting events and concerts. Mrs. Turner is thankful for spending her entire career in education in Arlington Public Schools!
